The superelliptical wooden tray is based on Piet Hein's world-famous formula for the Superellipse, which first saw the light of day in 1959, when Piet Hein devised the right solution for Sergels Torg in the center of Stockholm.

This was followed by a wide range of products, all based on the groundbreaking formula, where, among other things, the superellipse table and the super egg were some of the products that broke through worldwide and secured Piet Hein international fame.

The tray was first put into production by Kay Bojesen in 1950. At that time it was teak, while this tray is made of oak, which gives the expression a lightness and elegance.

The tray does not withstand water and dishes, but simply needs to be wiped with a damp cloth. It is not suitable for hot elements as these can damage the fine natural wood.

If you maintain the tray with regular neutral oil, you have a tray that will last for many years.

Piet Hein and Kay Bojesen collaborated on several occasions. Kay Bojesen produced goods designed by Piet Hein.

Products include:

A nutcracker designed as a caricature of C.Th.Zahle (co-founder of the Radical Left together with Piet Hein's grandfather Octavius Hansen).
Super egg bowls in teak
Cigarette holder for the table
Super egg in teak
Trays in the shape of Piet Hein's Superellipse - the product on this page.
