At just 12 years old, Estrid Hein was subjected to an assault that left a profound mark on her life. Yet she refused to let her past define her.
With an unwavering determination to be independent, she forged her own path at a time when opportunities for women were severely limited.
She became Scandinavia’s first female ophthalmologist and went on to build a remarkable career as a dedicated advocate for women’s rights – both in Denmark and internationally.
Her efforts helped shape rights and opportunities that continue to influence society to this day.
